Standing proudly near the Veerabhadra Temple, the Lepakshi Nandi is one of the most impressive examples of monumental stone sculpture in South India.

The gigantic Nandi is carved from a single piece of granite and is shown in a majestic seated posture. The sculpture is richly decorated with carved ornaments, including necklaces and chains of bells.

The Andhra Pradesh district tourism portal describes the Nandi as approximately 10 metres long and 6 metres high, while Incredible India gives measurements of approximately 27 feet long and 15 feet high.

The sculpture is positioned facing the temple's Nagalinga, reinforcing the traditional relationship between Nandi and Lord Shiva.

Its enormous scale becomes particularly dramatic when photographed from a low-angle perspective. The combination of the carved granite body, ornamental details, open sky and surrounding landscape makes it one of the most photogenic heritage attractions in Andhra Pradesh.
